Its boxing day and stu has a toothache... and it really hurts...

I always thought the reason Seafood weren't that big is because they're not actually that good, but nevermind, I'm sure in a years time Bills dream will come true and they will be supporting us... ahhhh!

Its just the toothache talking, I actually quite like them, but that's showbiz! Anyway, I'm sure they all ridicule my deep rooted love for The Bay City Rollers, so fair game....

I have to go, there's stuff to do and... well, I can find stuff to do

See ya!

Festive greetings from Pearly!

I hope everyone is set for the usual ordeal of Christmas, 'logs on the fire' etc.. I thought I'd write and say Merry Christmas from the band.

I have to say that I have been having many a good night out recently what with Christmas bashes and other things, but on Monday I went to Seafood's Christmas Spectacular at On the Rocks in Shoreditch (Pronounced with the emphasis on Shore.. was that in 'TV Go Home'? Nevermind...). I went straight from work and took my place done the front row, they were giving out free mince pies at the door and there was a lovely vibe in the place. Anyway, 1st band was a novelty act, 2nd band The Loose Salute were excellent (Sort of Alt. Country with cool harmonies) and Seafood were amazing, I've seen them 4 times now and I think that the only reason they are not more popular is that they make a different kind of alternative rock music which covers a lot of different ground. This obviously means that the main channels of media don't really know what to make of them I think as they don't fit into a box very easily. The annoying thing is that they urinate all over the likes of Razorlight, The Libertines or anything from that whole 'New Rock' thing which is obviously a journalistic invention created in order to have something to write about. The funny thing is that I remember Snow Patrol supporting Seafood at the Electric Ballroom and thinking they were just ok and now look at them! All Seafood should do is write a slow-burning-shite-lyriced song and make a video like Coldplay and they'd be set! Anyway, Seafood are great blah-blah.. music industry.. blah.. media shite.. blah, I had a wicked night and will continue to find Seafood an inspiration to rock!

Sorry, I should save this stuff for their message board.. anyway, have a good Christmas. I think the new year is going to be very fruitful, roll on The Tour!!

Hi guys, Brown here.

I've been meaning to write for a while but I'm kind of aware that only me and stu ever read this and also I've been busy! sleeping mostly with occasional eating breaks...

so anyway, where to start? Let's start with a blow by blow account of the metro gig...

Pearly arrive as directed to soundcheck at 6pm (well Bill was there at 5 and I crawled in about 6.10 but that's not important), and duly sit around tuning and twidling until our 5 minute soundcheck which commenced at 7.30. hang on, did bill go through this...?

Oh ok, he only did a little bit. Cool, so again we're on first at the metro. The last time that happened about twenty people came in during the first song so i was really relieved when there was a dozen or so people about when we took the stage! the vibe there is really having a band playing pretty much as soon as the doors open which can be a bit hard on late-comers i think if they're paying to watch us but anyway... so yeah we did a good set, in my mind the best we ever played everyone was bang on it and there was some really good moments of zen-like calm during some really wild loud bits which was great, really good ensemble playing that made me really proud of us. Yes the new ones sounded good and that's the tip of the iceberg so for anyone out there planning on catching us on tour in feb there should be a real feeling of progression.

Anyway, so we stayed to watch the second band who were nicely loud and played a quarter of an hour over time to revenge themselves on the other bands for taking for ever to soundcheck.

Way to go guys! wish we'ld thought of that...

I do think if i were a promoter and bands ran over soundcheck time I'ld just fuck them off and tell them if they're headlining the metro or whatever they should have learnt a bit of professionalism by now, but that's all part of the fun and allows me to be late cos I have never ever seen a soundcheck run on time. but anyway the bee-stings were appalling and so we made good our escape to the pub round the corner who's name i don't know. Here we aquainted ourselves with an extremely attractive young lady who as a bonus had a bottle of tequilla in her belt. It was love at first sight! so many staroprammens and tequillas later and the dj starts playing hip hop and this guy gets up to mc. He was good, you know he had his shit together and he starts rapping at me about something god knows what i was fucked at this point so i get it into my head to have a lyrical battle with him.

Obviously I'm complete cack and he wipes the floor with me, but all in good humour and he's a lot more gracious with me than I'ld have been. i think i'ld have probably hit me, but there you go.

anyway, the night takes a turn for the surreal when we get chucked out of the pub and go to get food. I attempt to buy a shitty hot-dog from one of those guys who stand around oxford street and he just picks up his cart and walks off! I mean I'm standing there going "hotdog please mate' and he just picks up the handles to the hotdog stand and fucking walks 100 yards down wardour street!

bastard!

so 5 minutes later obviously no one buys a hotdog off him cos he comes back, but pride prevents me from a second attempt at a purchase. Instead we decide to call it a night so me and bill stagger onto a night bus at tottenham court road. we lumber upstairs and my memory of this is hazy at best but there was this girl with big green eyes sitting in front of us and there was a tv on the bus and she was shouting at people to get out of the way she was watching the film and there was people at the front of the bus and we shouted 'people at the front of the bus who love rock and roll!!!' a lot and they went 'wooo!' and waved their hands in the air and that.

Then we tried to get off the bus but bill got off and i couldn't get down the stairs fast enough and i got off at the next stop and left my guitar stand on the bus.

so that was that night, the next funny thing that happened to the band was the thursday after when we wnet out with Elena to some photo exhibition thing. so we bowl down there after playing a bit of some golf game in the pub and there's all these old prints of the beatles and the stones and that, and free wine served by Elenas ex-girlfriend or something it's all a bit hazy. anyway it was boring so we leave and and i don't remember how but i got elenas car keys and she climbed on the bonnet to stop me driving. I decided to call her bluff tho and stuck it in 1st and drove halfway across the road straight at some bollards! ha ha! was a close one but managed to slam on the brakes just as disaster seemed inevitable.

as a punishment she made me ride in the boot! we went to some bar via an off license where i was able to purchase a bottle of tequilla (see a pattern emerging?). so they call time and we stagger back to elenas where her keyboard player paolo turns out to be table football champion 2004 and me and various people reduce the tequilla to dregs. During this the guitar player gets his slash wig out (the guy from guns and roses i mean) and the cockatiel (?) gets peltered with lemons. At some point in the wee hours i throw up and pass out waking up on the living room floor when elenas dog sticks it's tongue in my ear about ten in the morning.

so another quiet night out. The next band night out happened at Elenas gig on tuesday just gone at the Marquee club leicester square. the gig was ok then me and bill gatecrashed the worst office xmas party ever on the top floor. The sign said 'British American Party'. Bills reasoning was that we both were british and both had prior experience of americans so we were probably as good as invited.

needless to say we stuck out like a stripper in a mosque but everyone was too polite to say so. we drunk san miguel and danced to such classics as 'hey ya' by outkast and some other stuff i can't remember. The last i saw of bill he was chatting up some blonde bird so you'll have to ask him where that went cos i had to run to catch a train. I texted him later on seeing what he was up to. He texted back... "I don't know what's happening! ha ha ha! see ya later!" which is one of the weirdest texts i've ever received from someone who actually meant to send it. so you can draw your own conclusions...

so yeah that was the last band night out and so concludes what will probably be my last blog posting in ages. Come and see us on tour, we are threatening to turn into a seriously good band soon.

love to all, especially you stu. cos let's face it, no one else is reading this!

and I'm spent.

Hello Everyone.

I thought that I would finally post only my 2nd blog entry in the history of the blog I think.. I'm going to try and do entries a bit more regularly now though considering that quite a few things are happening with us now. Feel free to write abusive messages on our message board if the next one I write is in February!

Anyway, firstly thank you to everyone who came out The Metro gig, we generally thought it went quite well all things considered. We only had a 5 minute soundcheck and being first on meant that there was hardly anyone in the venue when we were asked to get on stage, I'm not whinging because the one thing that made me laugh was that neither myself or any of the other guys were surprised about this. I think this is quite telling of the change in attitude in the band really, where we are now quite used to constantly having to make compromises because of the nature of the live 'circuit'. Having said that, we always endeavor to rock, which we did and as far as I'm concerned, makes all the bollocks worthwhile.

Perhaps the best thing about the gig was that everyone who came said that the new songs were the best in the set. This obviously cued me to make a few jokes to a people who said this.. for example: 'Yeah, I'm really happy that we're developing a more mature sound, one might say a departure from our older material..' or 'It's great that we're finally getting the songs to sound like they do in my head'.. That's a personal favourite of mine. The truth is I was really happy, as we all were I think, because we really enjoyed playing them. So anyway, we want to learn a whole new set before we go on tour in February (See News for details!!), which we have January to do as December action will be limited due to the dutiful attitude of all band members.. maybe. Brown and I will be rocking some acoustic open mike nights soon because we have a perverse curiosity about how we would go down and it means that we can play all our bitchin' acoustic songs that we never get to play!

So that's about it for now. This week there is a band outing to an Elena gig (She produced our 3rd demo and although we have different ideas of how to go about the rocking, she is good fun, very entertaining and is always pleased to see us!), it's Tuesday night at The Marquee. I'd say she sounds a bit like Coldplay, Catatonia and Texas with a European feel, she is Italian (And a mentalist).

Finally, and I hate to end on a sour note but our good (and perhaps only) friends who are in a band End of the New broke the saddening news that their drummer Gary didn't want to play with them anymore. Apparently, it was old-fashioned musical differences which I guess is fair enough, but personally I'm pretty gutted for them especially as they had 4 gigs lined up. Personally, I think he could have at least played them. If anyone knows a drummer who is into noisy art-rock and wants to play with some good guys and a nice girl contact them through their website: www.endofthenew.com

Don't despair guys, just look at The Beatles, Nirvana and Spinal Tap.

Ok, until next time..
