Morning all

Well, it’s the day after the night before, and its that time again when we all think "why did we do that?!" but not today!
It was Mr Bruces first gig back, so it was always going to be more of a warm up for greater things, though the pressure was on when a bunch of Bruce’s mates who he met in the Cooke Islands packed out the place by themselves…. Cheers guys!

The fact that it was free probably had something to do with the place being a bit busy, which is absolutely fine by me, as I envisioned us playing to about ten people, so bob on! I will never drink again before a gig either. Well, maybe one, and although I didn’t drink for a good hour or so before, I’m sure the beer was the reason I was shit! (beer, always there to blame things on. Much like the time I burnt down the science lab when I was twelve. Though in hindsight, I realise that blaming the voices in my head would’ve been better)

At the time we were playing, I remember thinking "oh dear oh dear" and for some reason, I just can’t play bloody Chromatic anymore! I have no idea why, I must be a complete idiot! The same thing happened just before I took my driving test. I could do reversing around a corner brilliantly, in fact the driving instructor, Bob (lovely bloke) said I was the most natural driver he’d ever taught (though he also said that to three of my mates who promptly wrote of all of their cars) so anyway, where was I? Oh yeah, corners - reversing. Got it. So, a week before my test, I just couldn’t do them anymore. I spent a whole two hour lesson doing them. Nothing. Not a thing. It was like an amputee trying to play pick up sticks. It just wasn’t working. I passed my test though. I wore my shortest skirt and put on extra gloss. Worked like a charm.
So this in no way relates to Chromatic, as I have no intention of wearing a short skirt on stage. The band vetoed it. Bastards. They say that the fans wouldn’t want to see my nads up a denim mini skirt. I think they’re wrong, but a pearly veto is a pearly veto.

What the hell has this turned into?! It has no direction, no structure, no humour, well, questionable…
Anyway, in short cutting out the unnecessary clap trap, we were due a bad gig, and I felt that it was not our best.
However, when I got home, feeling a little tired, a little depressed, and very pathetic, I listened back to the gig, and was actually quite surprised at how powerful we sounded after the first few songs. The little mistakes didn’t really come across as much as they do through the monitors, and it was really very good! So never trust anything I say, because I’m probably wrong, but I’m always wrong with sincerity.
Oh, one last thing, if anyone comes up to me and calls me "Showbiz Stu" one more time, they’ll be eating their testicles with their toes
. Right?!

yes yes,

Hey everyone, and welcome to the second coming (or maybe third coming?), of Pearly!

Bruce is back and we're on the assault getting gigs left right and centre. keep an eye on the homepage for info, and if you haven't already joined the mailing list DO IT NOW! free cds are still there to be claimed to those of you who don't have one,
and the greedy ones who want two!

at the moment gig callender looks like this...

26th september supporting some signed band in stoke newington

gigs in octber at the bull and gate and water rats, plus possible support slots with our pal ELENA who's single's coming out on monday the 20th of september. You can check out her website via our links page.

This month is one of transition as we hole ourselves away and rehearse in order to emerge as an all-conquering four piece! we're all going up to Bruce's rural hideaway next weekend to play and drink and play some more, followed by more rehearsals at our favourite tottenham studio. In the meantime I'm switching the pickups on my old guitar to make it as loud and scary as possible! It's a whole new ball game...

thanks to everyone who turned out for our metro show. It was a great night out and we'll probably be playing there again before too long. get bill to give the guy a ring... We're looking to get back to our roots a bit though. Get back to playing all those scabby north london venues that scare emma so much! (Hey angel, how r u? ;-) )
The idea being to drum up some support and who knows, maybe get some fans that we don't actually know and didn't have to bully to attend..?

well that's all in the future. for the now stick sunday 26th of September in your diaries and keep checking out the website.

c ya!
