'If patience had a band, I'd be her biggest fan..'

We had a rehearsal last night which always makes me smile a lot the next day, for a number reasons but there are two main reasons.. Firstly, we work hard in rehearsals but are often prone to going off on tangents with ideas and jokes as I am sure most bands do. Last night we did this a lot, and we were falling about in a couple of great 'We're sooo funny!!' moments, so flashbacks to that have been keeping me amused all morning. Secondly though, and more importantly, the more we rehearse, the more I feel that we are getting to where we need to be with everything to do with the band. Musically, we are working on newer songs and it's all sounding great as far as I'm concerned. We will have a much more interesting set by the tour and people who haven't seen us for quite a while will probably find it strange because we have been heading in a more ambitiously rocking (Post-rock maybe? I'm still not sure what that means..) direction. I love it because when I sit down in my bunker to write new stuff I feel like we have no constraints as to what we can play. That freedom is what I think music should be.

Roll on the tour!

Brown here again with another fun-filled Pearly update!

This one's going out to End of the New cos me and Bill went to see 'em at The Dublin Castle last Tuesday and they fucking rocked! Been to see 'em a couple of times before but they're getting really good now I think. Check out their website via the links page or see www.endofthenew.com it's a bit more professional than ours I have to admit but maybe not as much fun!

So yeah that was worth the drive down to Camden for, will try and make the next one cashflow permitting. Also wanna mention the headliners Happy Attack for being hilarious. I think it was their first london date, they're from upminster, but easily the best thing I've seen randomly on an unsigned stage. I urge you all to check out www.happyattack.co.uk cos it's really funny they're like a really funky goldie looking chains but funny with a really cool horn section. Maybe they sound a bit dodgy on paper but I liked them.

Other news; we have been learning new songs and trying to sort this tour out! Which isn't going too badly but the birmingham date seems like it isn't gonna happen. Shame, but we'll hopefully do another one soon anyway. We're gonna see how much this tour costs us and providing it's not too much we'll do another one in the summer as well as some 'mini tours' over a few weekends, eg do norwich on a friday night then birmingham on saturday or whatever. Keep the Pearly steam roller moving.

Oh yeah exciting news a website has published a review of some of our modestly recorded ditties, you can read this review at http://www.freewebs.com/amplifiedreviews/uns/pearly-big-in-japan.html and either slap your head in disbelief or nod your head in agreement, or anything in between. Critics huh? Only joking the reviewer is quite kind. Even allowing for the fact that she got one of the rare demos which Stu had called 'Big in Japan' until Bill and I found out and stopped him doing it! Any review in which the band isn't urged to find a new guitarist is fine by me.

I love this crazy band, I hope you do too. You can't buy entertainment like this you know.

see ya...
