Its Sunday morning, I can see only out of my left eye, and am writing this with my toes after my arms exploded on the night bus.
A good time had by all....top night!
Lat night we played, without doubt, the best gig we've ever played. We stormed it. The club was really nice, the sound guy was a top bloke, and the beer was free. All that added up to a partay atmosphere.
One band didn't turn up, which was good for us as it meant we had how ever long we wanted! OH YES!
So our carefully constructed set list went more or less up in smoke, and we played what the hell we wanted, even having requests shouted out (enrique anyone?!)
We started off with a blistering Les McQueen, into Dirty Mouths Inaugral outing (I personally have had reservations about this song, but as always, I was proved wrong, and it rocked!) Then straight into another newy, and my mates favourite, Enjoying the View.
I was really enjoying the gig and the nerves and apprehension that I had at sound were nowhere, and I think it showed.
Fat Elvis is like fine wine, I t just gets better, and even Chromatic sounded OK (I hate playing that Mother, it takes so much concentration!) then British Summertime and finished off with a brand new version of an old fave of mine, Weekend Plus.
I don't know how the other guys feel about the inclusion of this in the set, but I have always loved it, but because of the restraints on the time to set up accoustics, we hardly ever get to play it. So in Friday nights practise, I suggested that we should do a punky version. We messed around with it a little, came back to it on Saturday, and I thnk the end result was brilliant! Well done me!!!!!
So that was our set, but you people, you can't let go can you? YOu want blood! So one more trick up ours sleeves wth the very last song of the night (only because we ran out of rehearsed material!) in Punchline....ahhhh the old faithful!
So a very good gig, and they want us back! We'll let you know as and when we have details, but we're doing alright!
That set list again!
