And again and again,
Fuck me I'm tired, the long slog up to Bradford was worth it but I'm paying for living life in the fast lane! I'm going to have quite a few drinks tonight I reckon, and maybe a pizza!
Pearly news is a strange beast, it tends to scuttle in the bushes for a while and then leap out at you in a series of frenzied attacks. Which is to say we don't do much, then we do loads of things at once. Or quite close to each other.
Ooh an email!
Events calender - BORING! I never read it I don't care what other people do and I know what I'm doing.
Anyway back to ME and other stuff more related to ME. The main news in a band sense is the cancellation of the garage gig (bit of a shame but not a great surprise) and the booking of a gig at the Bull & Gate in Kentish Town to replace it. This gig will be on Saturday 19th November and promises to be a great one.
The last (and only) time we played the B&G we played with a band called Platypus who did an absoloutely appalling cover of 'All The Things She Said' by Tatu and actually managed to empty the room practically. Then they changed their image and name, won a competition to play Glastionbury and they're doing pretty well it seems. Yes, they are the Subways, named after everyone's favourite meatball sandwich!
Brilliant.
So yeah, looking forward to that one. The other thing that happened to us recently was our first ever radio interview! Cheers to Andy at RamAir in Bradford for having us on his show, hopefully he's not too pissed off with us as we did kind of take over in true pearly fashion. We also played some songs acoustically live on air which was cool if a bit weird. We played...
1) British Summertime (N18)
2) Weekend Plus
3) You are a Spark (it's a new one!)
4) Faultline
And didn't really fuck up at all that I can remember. Many thanks to Richard Halfpenny the sound engineer who managed to get us sounding better on the radio than we do in real life (pretty impressive feat if you ask me), and indeed for everyone for putting up with us and our whimsical ponderings.
What else? We're finally going to re-write our fucking biog, the one on the site has been there since fucking February 2004 so it's in bad need of a revision or two. We have quite a few ideas for the website, so keep your eyes peeled. Fair fucks we're never short of ideas and most of them never see the light of day, but I reckon we have the motivation and ability to get some quite nifty things up there soon-ish. We can't do anything to it when Stu's away, he is the website master. It is the most control he has over anything in his life I imagine!
But what do I know?
If you want to hear the radio thing we're looking at ways we can get it as a download. The thing is it's an hour long so there's probably no way we can reasonably do it, we might look at handing out copies on cd at gigs if people think it's something they would like, or we could take the songs out and get them as downloads maybe?
We need to sort out getting some downloads on the site just one of the things we're working on! Also more pictures, we've got loads of photos lying around that we'd like to share with you guys..!
Bet you can't wait for that hey? Well, I'd like to see more up there, we want to put more 'personal' things up there so people can see all the crazy things we get up to and think; "Hey they seem like a fun bunch of guys, I bet being in that band is a load of fun."
Yes it is!
Hope everyone is enjoying the calm before the christmas storm, I need to book some time off. I need to sleep!
I'll sleep tomorrow, tonight we EAT!
Katie, I think the Bob Dylan shows are all sold out, we were too slow. On the plus side it's saved us both £50 so lets go out for pizza! I'm sure you don't read this blog, if you do honk your horn...
For the record (toot toot toot) I still think Bruce should write something, but I think he's been snowed under at work at the moment, haven't heard from him for a while. Was very strange at the radio station, people were taking pictures and we were getting a drink etc, and it was like, "someone's missing, where's Bruce?" Then you remember he couldn't make it. Rubbish! The Pearly clan was meant to stick together I say. Which may lead to the odd regional gig in the months ahead for, as Bruce declared on fateful day, if you book them I shall come.
Which is kind of like Wayne's World 2. Only with better music and funnier jokes!
So yeah, everyone let me know what you think about all of this, how these things make you feel, why you think we are continuing with this madness. I sometimes feel I'm trying to get everything over and done with, get it all in quick.
The exhaustion is the thing, I've been tired before but only recently have I found myself running out of energy and collapsing. I need to slow down, but I'm not sure I can. Not sure I want to anyway.
I'd rather stop than go slow. Like waiting for rush hour to be over before you try and get home, that sort of thing. I need to take a break for a while, a real one with beds and sleeping in them not on the ground or someone's car.
Talking of cars mine is a bit poorly, it started going a bit funny half-way up the A1 on the way to Bradford so I'm not driving it at the moment til it gets looked at. It's MOT is due anyway, and the tax but I can't find the form. How do you tax a car without it?
Hey, that would be a constructive thing to find out wouldn't it? Maybe I should go check that out rather than write this junk?
Yes, I should.

PS, yesterday I wanted to say this, but thought better of it.
I'm going to have to be a different person if this is going to work
