Dear All,

Apologies for not writing sooner, indeed many are the times I have intended, even wanted to (whisper it), but could not due to the constant, fraught nature of my life at this point in time. You can all understand I'm sure, we are all there whirling around in our own personal tempest.

It seems to me that contributions to this diary appear in rashes, in groups, in gluts (albeit it modest ones), and so as soon as a bright new entry breaks free from under the lazy crust of daily toil it is obscured by another, perhaps less relevant, entry which generally then tends to sit and collect metaphorical dust.

You see the problem I'm sure. We like to keep the blog updated, but then who reads it and wherefore? Are we wasting our time? Is this blog just making us feel bad about ourselves due to our inability to keep it reasonably current? Is it therefore intrinsically negative? Does it matter? Are all the old entries more interesting anyway?

I guess if people wanted to be entertained they'd read Stu's blog (which I heartily recommend). The thing is that we are all sprinting thorugh time and often have no more than a chance to glance at something which catches the eye. I know this is how I feel, I cannot be alone in this world of 6 billion souls.

Anyway, I think I've done quite well so far to churn out some sentences without actually saying anything. I've spent too much time around politicians recently, yes and then some more if you want to know my opinion (which isn't what I mean but that's another thing), likely you don't.

Well, me and my bunch of reprobates (the band is who I am referring to here, remember them? they are are a funny old bunch) are reasonably happy with ourselves today as we played really well last night ( I think, hard to tell when you're up there bashing away) at one of my favourite venues which is always a good thing. Makes you feel like you did something worthwhile.

I have to tell you this, as it would be churlish not to. Violence! Does it have a place in rock and roll? Most people would say so, including it has to be said the bass player from the headline band (they played after us you see) as last night he threw a tantrum (there can be no other description) because, I believe, his microphone wasn't working. This resulted in him throwing his bass on the floor and storming off stage. "It's all an act" we thought, funny but a bit tragic. We were proved wrong however when he briefly returned to the stage; a happy reunion? No, instead he punched the (female) singer in the face, resulting in her punching him back. Clearly frustrated by his inability to subdue a young woman with his fists he then threw a chair at her, prior to storming off as before. The band coped admirably I have to say, he wasn't really missed. They were one of those punk bands where you could lose either the bass player or guitarist and it doesn't really make a difference as they're both saying the same thing anyway.

Saying? sorry I mean playing there. There is a difference.

So the last time we played the Comedy (for t'was the venue) the guitarist in the headlining band got an (unintentional, I'm sure...) erection on stage whilst playing a solo in (very) tight leather trousers. This time the bass player in the headlining band threw furniture at his bandmates. Can't wait to play there again, it's only a matter of time before a band manage to blow themselves up. I wouldn't mind seeing that.

So that was the latest installment in our gigging history, well worth the entrance money if you ask me. Humble thanks to the beautiful Miss Ambrosio for gracing us with her presence at some point during the set, I for one was honoured. Apologies for getting your song wrong, but I think we recovered masterfully.

Well, I would say that, and not to point any fingers, but I really have no excuses for getting that one wrong, except not concentrating. Sorry. I feel I made up for it by sweating lots towards the end. Peering eyes and distorted faces beyond the lights watch for signs.

Hello to 'left with pictures', they were a good band, I bought a cd off them but haven't listened to it yet. Hopefully it's in my guitar case, if not then I've lost it.

In the past 3 weeks I have been to Brighton, Blackpool and Edinburgh and have had some interesting experiences in all of them. I neglected to get my palm read in Blackpool, which I bitterly regret now. To think I could have had my future revealed for the pittance that is £5. Curses. Also in Brighton, the food really could have been better. In Edinburgh oysters were excellent, as was the air.

Ok, I've lost the will to write. I just felt that it would be a good thing to do, now that feeling has passed. No doubt next time I will write something more worth reading, I hope that won't be too long into the future. Before christmas certainly.

So there you go. Bruce...?

Brown
