Yo!
Howdy pearly fans, Brown here. Sorry about the lack of site activity of late, we have been busy! I'm a bit pissed off that the site hasn't got any Trimi Festival stuff on it, I'm going to try and play a part in correcting that now.
Unfortunately I can't get this blog to host pictures (I've tried copying and pasting them on but that doesn't work), so I guess we'll have to wait until they appear on the website. Stu...?
Anyway, here is a blog entry from Bruce (honestly, it really is Bruce I'm not making this up):
I (Pearly Bruce), have been requested by the band to stop just plodding along in a root note kinda fashion, step out from behind the bass and express my thoughts in blog form so that the world can know how pearly are doing at the mo.
So firstly CONGRATULATIONS to Pearly Stu and Claire who, in a mid tour moment of romance, got engaged. Sorry ladies, it’s true. She promptly said yes, got food poisoning and thew up in her hands on a bus. Puke all over the ring. You have to laugh!!!!!!!
Hello ITALY.
Special mention to the 500 strong fans who screamed and shouted their hearts out both nights and even did the arms in the air stadium rock clap for us. I hope the lucky 180 of you who walked away with our demo CD treasure it with the kind of love we put into creating it. Sorry for the rest we had to disappoint, next time we will bring more.
For those who were not in Bologna last weekend then I should explain.
Pearly were invited to play in the semi finals of a European battle of the bands being held in bologna. Now we are not really battle of the band type of folks, but they wanted to pay us to do it and basically we don’t hold a very morale high ground, so from it we are easily bought. We flew out and rocked the Italians to their very core. Then rocked some more!
We were voted through to the final by popular demand and a technical jury, excellent taste to all those involved. Then we played the final. We were really pleased with the show we gave and the crowd loved it. The late bringing off the bench of "Dirty Mouth" a master stroke which endeared us to the Italians forever. We came 5th in the end, which is fair do’s considering there was 3000 entries. Highlights of the actual gig was the camera man on stage with us, ridiculous dry ice and the bouncy stage we threw ourselves around.
Highlights off the stage was the trolley of nastro we got through resulting in loads of antics and football, both frowned upon by the serious musicians who had come to win and were sitting around nervously for their moment, for most resulting in a 1 hour sound check. Incidentally our sound check lasted 10 mins which contained the proud unveiling of the sound check song…….further frowns from the serious musicians. Playing keep ups with Italian bands out for a laugh was great. The enormous trophy we got was a giggle and the Interview, which along with the gig will appear on national Italian TV, was also very funny. Love the way Italians say Pearly cracked
Thanks to Trimi festival inc! for inviting us and all the people we met that made the whole trip such a laugh. My face hurt for days from the all the laughing. And congratulations to Frankie the winners of the biggest trophy I have ever seen.
I think Pearly were made for touring. Can’t wait till the next one. See all you pearly fans at the Dublin Castle for the next instalment on the 18th July. Hopefully we will have a new CD for you all because we are back in the studio now.
Ok, it's Brown back again. Yep we are indeed heading into the studio again next weekend for the first time in absoloutely ages. hopefully it won't be as hot as it is today, it's a scorcher...
Anyway, I'm going to have another go at these pictures, se y'all later.
